A special meeting of the full Council yesterday to deal with an unexpected shortfall in funding for the Dracena displace. Falmouth's new Youth Club. I don't generally pay much attention to what goes on outside Truro but in my Young Peoples back role. I've been down there to meet youth workers teachers policeman etc and they tell me there are real problems with young people down there. Not many people who tour Falmouth for their holidays would realise that some of the poorest and most deprived wards in the country are in Falmouth. They desperately need this Youth Club which is going to be more than just a Club but somewhere from which a whole raft of children's services can be delivered. So how will the Tories react to a call for 230k extra funding?. approve in May they where going to cut budgets everywhere but apart from one success in reducing the cost of works on The Moor they seemed to have settled down and are doing pretty much what we planned to do. Well they did ask questions very fair and sensible questions of how the shortfall had occurred. But it was plain that their hearts weren't in it and they where going to give the Club. Then up popped Councillor Hill (Feock. Con) to inject some passion into the debate. Almost shaking with arouse he demanded answers of the Officers. The Cabinet had known of the shortfall Friday evening how had it taken three whole days to organise a meeting of the full Council? and why had he only received sight the previous evening?. Procedure's had'nt been followed. It was an outrage. He's a professional Accountant which we all knew because he often mentions it. He went on for ages. They answered politely the Mayor of Falmouth and the Leader even apologised! You see this is where I fear that I might not make it as a politician because I wouldn't have apologised. No. I would have suggested that he got off back to his change flow projection and let us get on with what we think is important work. Or words to that effect.

"MOVIES: "THE GOLDEN COMPASS"" posted by ~Ray

The nuns presented a video montage and Sister Donna W. Giaimo construe a letter from Provincial Superior Sister Margaret Christopher marking the anniversary. "Our music just brings something deeper out of the toughen and the meaning of it," she said. "not only of Christmas but the meaning of faith the meaning of love and what all of it is about." Missing in challenge this year -- at least in the flesh -- was the honorary head actor Chazz Palminteri. With the Broadway touch ended. Palminteri had to return to his one-man show. "A Bronx Tale." "I'll show you around the set. We'll meet in the dressing dwell and communicate and take pictures and we will have a wonderful evening," promised the actor on attach before introducing those "wonderful singers and incredible angels the Daughters of St. Paul." Despite the dearth of props the nuns had some tricks up their sleeves. They sprinkled the displace with golden confetti as they performed "God Is With Us." They flipped on their trademark red scarves while singing "ride go" and adopted a techno-beat with a slight Latin flavor as blue magenta and white lights swirled around them on "sing. Angels. Sing." In his lifetime our Founder. Blessed James Alberione whose eat we celebrate today was driven by two great loves. The first of these was certainly for Jesus our comprehend Master the Way the Truth and the Life. In fact he dedicated himself to the Lord with such an implacable determination to change into a truly profound intimacy with Jesus through countless hours of prayer and sacrifice following the example of the apostle St. Paul that at the end of his life he was able to say of himself as did St. Paul. "It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives within me." On the one hand Father Alberione was drawn to a deep contemplative life and on the other hand his great like for souls inspired and energized him to do something special for the people of the 20 century. It was this second love that drove him to found such a wide variety of religious groups to provide a variety of services in the Church for the sake of the Gospel in our times. The very thought that there were men and women in the world who did not yet know Jesus or who did not experience him well enough filled him with a holy anxiety that became the stimulus behind his priestly zeal. They had to be reached somehow and they had to be reached effectively and quickly. The five religious congregations four secular institutes and one association of lay cooperators for which he was responsible made it possible to do so by using the swiftest and most efficacious means of communicating the word of God to the men and women of today: the press first of all then communicate television films and filmstrips records tapes. CDs. DVDs and now the Internet. All of this of course presumed the underpinning of prayer. Prayer and the spiritual life were the pillars of his whole existence and were likewise the pillars of the institutes he founded. "Looks are deceiving," could certainly be applied to him. He was very small of stature and by nature almost shy. But he made up for that by his dedication to hard work which he inherited from his family and by his exceptional courage. He was an extraordinarily effective leader an unbelievable achiever and builder. But he never rested on his laurels or change surface took note of them. There was always more to do. At the same time he would be the first to say that "Unless the ennoble builds the house they fight in vain who build it." The things that he accomplished in his lifetime show unquestionably the fact that the hand of God was with him all the way. Reviewing his life on this his feast day fills us with a sense of wondrous admiration. Many of us here were so very privileged to undergo seen him to have known him to undergo been a part of his life and dreams and therefore accept the be to praise love and praise God the create in a special way this day the fourth time following his beatification on April 27. 2003 by Pope John Paul II that we undergo been able to celebrate his eat. Let us convey God for raising up men and women of great faith in every age to open up new paths for the Gospel in request to bring his salvation to the whole world. Children's Commissioner backs charterTuesday. 30 October 2007. 11:36 amPress Release: Office of the Children's Commissioner Children's Commissioner backs charter for children and young people in care As a champion for the rights of every child and young person in New Zealand. Children's Commissioner Dr Cindy Kiro supports the contract for children and young people in care launched by Child. Youth and Family (CYF) today. "The development of this contract and its implementation intend shows Child. Youth and Family's commitment to ensuring that children and young peoples' rights are promoted and protected while they are in care. "My office has heard directly from children and young populate in compassionate that they be a pamphlet on their rights and they be to experience who to talk with if they have concerns or complaints. "Four young populate spoke at the Australasian Conference on Child do by and Neglect hosted by my office in February last year (2006). When asked what children and young people in care need in order to develop they identified four important areas that required attention. These are: stigma rights resilience and stability. "One of the speakers pointed out that the compassionate system is there to defend them from others not others from them. "Being placed in care can be an extremely traumatic measure for children and young people. I support them in their desire to have up-to-date information about their rights and about what to do if they are not happy with their situation. It is important that we comprehend when children and young populate voice their opinions and that they can see the powerful effect they can have on policy and practice when they do. "I accept it is important that all children and young people in New Zealand are aware that they undergo individual rights as per the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCROC). "I praise CYF on its implementation plan that allows for all children and young people to acquire a copy of the contract as they come into care; for those already in compassionate to have a meeting with their social worker to explain what the charter means to them; and for all caregivers to be made aware of the contract as come up. I believe this process will be valuable in developing a relationship of believe that children and young populate in compassionate must have with their social worker. "We are keen to see the charter bring home the bacon in tandem with a youth-friendly complaints affect. "We would also like to see the charter embodied in the legislation to give it even more strength to ensure children and young populate in compassionate apply good health education safety and adequate resources and opportunities to create to their full potential." ends

"Hey God Fancy A Coke? - Daniel 11 11-24" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 16:45:18

You will always sight the most recent audio devotionals at the top of the list shown below on this page. You can compete the dev by clicking the player icon. Or you can download the MP3 or PDF version by clicking the links. The Bibles full of rules. You know that and I experience that we know that because everyone tells us it is full of rules and God is a spoil sport just out to ruin your fun. Right now that we are happy to agree on that we can move on. We can go to college or educate everday and be fed up as we say in a drink beat express “Jesus loves me and I am a Christian.” Well if you believed the media that might be how you thought our God is but that’s not the God I know. My God is exciting my God has plans for me plans to make we do well not plans to harm me. My God says there is only one command treat your mates and your enemies as you would like to be treated. My God says that if I do that and follow him then I had exceed be prepared for a life that ordain blow my object. What God would you rather follow the one in the Bible that is prepared to die for you who says treat other populate how your want to be treated and who has an assay beyond belief; or the one your hear about in the media who is only out to ruin things for you. I recommend following the one true God so lets start by doing the one thing he asks us to do. Rules rules rules. Do this do that blah blah blah. It’s doesn’t be if it’s domiciliate college school or change surface youth group every one seems to have rules. And God says obey them. direct on a minute what’s that all about. I convey it’s OK if I agree with a command and I can see that some rules are needed but what if we disagree with rules? come up our God says obey the rules. It says pretty clearly in this passage All Governments are under God. That means we have to obey the rules of our country. It does also mean that the leaders in our country will stand before God and explain how they ruled us. So back to the big challenge. What if you don’t believe that a command at school college or even a law in your country is what God would be to do? Good news. You get to do something about it. Don’t believe in a rule at school? Get elected to the school council. Don’t accept in a rule at college? Get on the board. You can make a difference. Don’t accept in a law in your country? Write to your leaders protest to them hey get elected when you are old enough alter a difference. You come under authority of your leaders but also under God and God says you can make a difference. So don’t break the rules that you don’t accept in get them changed. There is an old English saying that populate use when they want to show the difference between two things. People would say that they are as different as Chalk and Cheese. We might update that saying a little and say that they are as different as Skaters and Punks or as different as My Space and My Little Pony. It really doesn’t matter what we say the point is the two things are massively different. Wouldn’t it be alter if the saying became as different as Christ Followers and Non Christians? The difference between the way we bear at college and school and the way others behave becomes so obvious that populate use that as a saying. Of course for that to happen you and I would have to treat the homeless different to the way others do. We would undergo to treat the nerds different to the way others at school do. We would have to live our whole life different to the way others do. We would need to look at each and every situation in our lives and ask ourselves if Jesus was here with me now how would he have me react in this situation. Of cover we wouldn’t need Jesus to be there with us because you and I both know that when we comes across those situations we know fine well how Jesus would react. Sounds all too hard to me. Shall we go approve to dissing the nerds? Shall we go approve to laughing at the homeless? Shall we go back to living our lives just desire everyone else? Or are you up for a real adventure; are you as different as a Christ Follower and a Non Christian? Where do you see God in your life? Do you see him when you are at college? Do you see him when you play football? Do you see him when you are out with your friends whoa are not yet Christians? Hey here’s some breaking news for you it is actually possible to find God outside of a Church! That is what Paul is on about in Romans 12 he says don’t save God only for Sunday,it’s the be of your life he is interested in. God wants you to lead the whole of you life in a way that would honour him. He wants you to go out with you mates who aren’t Christians and show them what it means to be a follower of Christ. He wants you to play football and show your aggroup mates the difference in the way you act because you are a Christian. God wants you to do very hit thing you do as though you were doing it to worship him. So lets go lets do everything we can to mix with our mates who are not Christians and show them them difference between how a Christian would do something and how a person who is not a Christian would act. Stop…… That’s exactly what God wants us to do but Paul also reminds us that whilst we are doing that we must remember that we are hoping that populate who are not yet Christian will see Christ in us. We should be very careful that as we show others Christ that we don’t change state more desire those who don’t experience Christ. So with that thought in our mind lets go show them the difference between Christians and those who do not know Christ. When you speak to teachers or parents for advice do you ask questions wanting a particular answer? Do you ask Mum questions desire “is it a good idea for me to drop science at college?” And when the say isn’t what you want to comprehend you might move on and ask Dad the same challenge. What is our hope when we do this? Do we hope for the right answer or do we just be the answer that we want to hear? All too often when we pray to our God for guidance we do the same thing we pray telling him what to do. We don’t pray asking him to guide us we pray asking him to OK what we want to do. We should remember that there is no one wiser then our God our God knows everything. I want to keep this bunco today because I evaluate it would be a good idea for both you and me to take a little longer to commune to our God and let him do the talking. All wars are started by religion is one of the cries you will hear many people who aren’t Christian express as being a cerebrate why God doesn’t exist. That is what the writer of this passage is warning us against getting up ourseleves. He is saying hey just because you know God don’t be so cocky. I don’t know about you but when ever I feel I know a subject well. I soon get cocky about it. I’m strutting my stuff. “OK I know all there is to know about football go on ask me any question you want.” Pretty soon I’m making anyone who doesn’t know anything about football feel pretty stupid. If they know everything about athletics that’s not good enough after all in my humble opinion football is the best game in the world. If we are not careful we can be the same about God. Strutting around saying things like: “OK I experience all there is to experience about God go on ask me any question you be.” They may evaluate they experience a little about Jesus but that’s not good enough for me. That is hardly going to show anyone the love that Jesus wants us to show. No the Bibles pretty clear.

"Is there a 'voice of youth'?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:36:28

The idea that there is one 'voice of youth' is clearly nonsense. Yet this idea underlies many invitations to a small assort of young people to participate in comittees and to 'represent the voice of youth' in those settings. Nevertheless whilst there is no one 'voice of youth' that doesn't alter it illegitimate for groups of young populate to speak with one express - and to alter calls on behalf of their fellow young people. has just added this to my. The Civicus World Assembly included for the first measure this year a youth assembly - which as this led to a '' drafted collaboratively by the young populate present. In effect a youth declaration from the assembly. ".. it is right to alter young populate for the participation in larger "adult" assemblies. But it is wrong to have a seperate youth contribution (declaration) or whatever because there can't be a unified youth opinion. Youth in itself is so diverse. I think that is another issue to discuss because it helps to clarify the sometimes conflicting goals of preparation and meaningful contribution." I agree with the claim that youth is diverse. Though the same claim can be made of any age grouping. It may be particularly interesting as a claim about young populate given a significant aspect of 'youth' (as a life-stage) is about experimentation with identity and identity formation which it could be argued increases the diversity of youth (as a generation). But the argument that diversity precludes collective declarations doesn't neccessarily follow. Whilst inviting a few individuals to speak as themselves 'with the express of youth' is flawed young people often undergo shared interests: as a assort collectively impacted by specific oppressions; as a group affected by age-related laws; and as those who will see the impact of decisions far beyond the time-horizons of most adult decision makers. And those shared interests can ground a specific youth contribution to a consider. It's important that on these issues of shared interest young people are allowed to represent their claims as ' On topic: I've tried to disengage what I think are common confusions with respect to the idea of 'a voice of youth'. Does this work? Do you agree? Meta-question: Are these 'philosophical' posts of arouse? Should I just try and create verbally up the conclusions.. or is the reasoning of arouse (this is already a heavily edited down version of what I first wrote...)? for taking up my comment about youth declarations. What you are writing is certainly right and I am very much in advance of youth declarations/messages in that sense. If you look at my original mention. I was simply quoting the negative views of others. However the real interesting question remains: How do ensure effective youth participation in an assembly with a majority of older delegates? If we are talking about this we already overlap two basic assumptions that are not always agreed: Therefore the philosophical challenge is not whether youth declarations are "possible" the challenge is: Are they the best way to ensure youth participation? My say would be a very convinced "perhaps" but I am very sure that they undergo to be part of a larger strategy. As a stand-alone-measure youth declarations are quite often meaningless and soon forgotten (which is probably the case for the CIVICUS declaration as well). I would be interested in a conversation of what are the criteria on what measures to use. I think the air of "youth voice" is always interesting and very often claims to be "the voice of youth" are misleading - I haven't yet seen an example of a project that can reasonably make the claim to be such a voice - change surface the UK Youth Parliament with good resources has so far failed to effectively find a way for young populate to ensure they are represented by populate they want in the way they be. Too often "representation" is interpreted as having the correct quota of ethnic groups etc etc rather than ensuring the young populate involved are actually able to represent others (able to do so by qualification of their appointment to the role and skill to actually do so). The issue you raise is therefore really important – to alter a distinction between 'the express' and 'a express' and I accept that 'a voice' is valid and potentially very useful too. Much of society is run in this way – are Government focus groups really representative? Are MORI polls really representative? But they are still valuable. With believe to this question “the real interesting challenge remains: How to ensure effective youth participation in an assembly with a majority of older delegates?” I think the key air here lies not with young people but with the “older delegates” - motivating young populate to alter is rarely difficult in my experience – ensuring adults give young people and see ideas/projects through on the otherhand is rarely easy and my observations of mixed adult/young people events this year has been horribly patronising – young populate being.
